Not new really, but news to me!

Sculptor Rob Fogell, inspired by Kettle's Yard in Cambridge and Jim Ede's energy and commitment there, opens an art gallery in the front room of his home

For years Rob has made a living restoring sculpture at country houses and museums as well as teaching art and design to college students. But his real ambition has long been to devote more time to his craft and he and his wife, Diane, have been searching for the ideal property in which they can live and display his artwork.

Rob uses a variety of materials including stone, steel, bronze, ceramic and plaster to create his abstract works, drawing inspiration from the forms and patterns of the natural world.

A number of his pieces are on sale at the gallery, which also displays 20th Century British Art including artists such as Ben Nicholson and John Piper as well as handmade arts and crafts from around the region.

Rob also runs specialist courses at Burghley House in Stamford.

Coming soon - detailed up to date listings of what's on offer theatre wise in the area, starting with Uppingham

News from the Riverside Festival:

2009 Riverside Festival ~ Saturday 4 July, 1pm til 11pm

The deadline has now passed for band and artist applications for the 2009 festival.

The Road to Riverside competition run by Stamford Mercury closes to entries very soon - entries are being taken only until 10 April. The winner of the competition will secure a slot on one of the stages.

With less than 3 months to this year's Riverside Festival, our especial thanks go to Idealshopfitters for their support as Event Partner 2009.  Thank you also to all of the musicians you have applied this year - a record number, so please bear with us as the selection committees have a lot of work to do.

We will be looking out for as much help as we can on the day - if you want to sponsor any part of the event, advertise with us, have a stall on site, or volunteer in any way, please do get in touch.
